Report from Abu Hurairah. He said (umar bin khathaab): "I heard the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) say." "I ask God for forgiveness more than seventy times a day, and I repent to God." (Bukhari)
The essence of Hadith of the day
The Prophet (peace be upon him) is a great prophet. Those who are protected from sin. Yet, if the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) repented more than seventy times a day, how many times should we all repent? The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) repented because he thought that even if he did not commit a sin, he would have been unaware of any movement that was not in line with the great position of Allah.
What we need to understand from Hadith of the day
We all make many mistakes every day. We make a lot of mistakes secretly and openly. Most of the time we are able to keep the mistakes we make secret (I, who am writing this, am also a person who makes a lot of mistakes. May Allah forgive us all .... Ameen). But what we need to understand is that no matter how secretive we are, we cannot hide it from Allah.
Allah, the Lord of the Worlds, knows even the movements of the ants passing through the black rock in the pitch darkness. No matter how small a mistake we make, Allah knows.
It is human nature to do wrong. As ordinary people, we are often unable to stay away from mistakes. That is why you and I are wrong. But Allah, the Merciful, forgives all our sins, even as the mountains touch the sky.
Our Prophet Muhammad Mustafa (peace be upon him) did nothing wrong. But we are amazed to know that even that prophet forgives Allah more than seventy times a day. If the Prophe ask for forgaveness so many times, how many times should we ask Allah for forgiveness? According to another report, the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) used to forgive a hundred times a day.
In this hadeeth, the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: "O people, repent to Allaah and ask forgiveness for Him, for I repent a hundred times a day." (Muslim)
Allah says about the importance of repentance.
He said, "O you who believe, repent to Allah, that you may be successful" (Surah An-Noor, 31) See elsewhere. Allah said: Forgive your Lord and turn to Him in repentance (11 Hood 3).
Similarly, in many places in the Qur'an, Allah speaks of the importance of repentance. But the fact is that we do not pay attention to it.
Reported by Anas ibn Malik Ansari, the servant of the Prophet (peace be upon him). The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: "Allah rejoices in the repentance of His servant more than He rejoices in the return of a lost camel in the desert" (Muttafaqun alaihi).
The Muslim report states: "One of you was riding his camel through the desert (while resting somewhere). The camel was lost. The camel was carrying food and water. Attempts to locate the camel fail and the camel stands in front of it in despair. He grabbed its nose by the rope and said with joy:, You are my slave and I am your Lord. "The tongue is lost in joy. Greater joy will come to Allah when his servant repents than he did."
How to repent to God?
Scholars have argued that repentance from all kinds of sins is obligatory. If the offense is between Allah and His servant, then if it has nothing to do with another man's right, then there are three conditions for repentance.
- Retire from crime
- Sorry for the inconvenience
- Be determined never to commit a crime again.
If he loses one of these three, his repentance will not be right. Now if the crime is related to a person, there are four conditions for repentance to be accepted. All three are the same as above. The fourth is to avoid liability to the person to whom the offense was committed. If there is a financial liability, it must be repaid. In the case of defamation or otherwise, disciplinary action must be taken or reconciled. If it is blasphemy, then the slander must be matched with whoever said it. (Sin is not forgiven just by being reconciled or punished) Repentance is obligatory on all sins.
